Effective October 5, 2026

This policy explains what the Gulf Tide Radio apps collect. It covers the app for iPhone, iPad and CarPlay, and the app for Android phones, tablets and Google TV. It explains what they collect, why, and what happens to it. The app is published by Ashley Lucius, who operates Gulf Tide Radio (“we”, “us”).

The short version: there are no accounts, no ads and no tracking. The app only handles information you choose to send us, plus your approximate location if you allow it, which is used to show your local weather.

What the app collects

InformationWhenWhat it is used for
Approximate location (within about a mile)Only if you allow location accessTo show the weather and any weather watches or warnings for where you are. Your coordinates are sent to the U.S. National Weather Service to look these up. We do not receive or store your location.
Talkback recordings (your voice)Only when you record a talkback and choose to send itThe recording is delivered to the station by email. We may play it on the air.
Your name and where you’re fromOnly if you type it inSent along with your talkback or request so we know who it is from. We may say it on the air.
Requests and messagesOnly when you send oneSong requests are delivered to the station by email. Text messages are sent from your phone’s own texting app, so we see your phone number the same way anyone you text does.
Song likes and dislikesWhen you tap the heart or thumbs-downSaved on your device. They may also be sent to the station, together with a random identifier for your copy of the app, so we can count votes and decide what to play. That identifier does not include your name or contact details.

The microphone is used only while you are recording a talkback. The app never listens in the background.

What the app does not do

  • No advertising and no tracking across other apps or websites.
  • No analytics or usage profiling.
  • No accounts, passwords or payment information.
  • We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

Other services the app relies on

  • Live365 delivers the audio stream and the song information. Like any streaming service, it receives your device’s internet address when you listen. See the Live365 privacy policy.
  • U.S. National Weather Service (weather.gov) provides the weather and alerts and receives the approximate coordinates used to look them up.
  • Email and messaging providers. Talkbacks and requests arrive in the station’s email inbox, and votes may be stored in a spreadsheet, both hosted by Google. Texts travel through your mobile carrier or your phone’s messaging service.

How long we keep things

Talkbacks, requests, messages and vote counts are kept for as long as they are useful for running the station, and then deleted. Likes and dislikes saved on your device are removed when you delete the app.

Your choices

  • You can turn location or microphone access on or off at any time in your device’s Settings, under Gulf Tide Radio (on Android: Settings, Apps, Gulf Tide Radio, Permissions). The app still plays the station without them.
  • Talkbacks, requests and texts are always optional.
  • To ask us to delete something you sent, email us at the address below and tell us roughly when you sent it.

Children

The app is a general-audience radio player. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
